The environmental department protects the public’s health by ensuring safe food, facilities and practices. Kentucky has adopted the 2013 FDA Food Code and it contains information for opening up a retail food establishment. Everyone working in a food establishment is required to have a Kentucky Food Certification card. Food Employee Certification (Food Handler) classes are taught at the Pike County Health Department at 9 AM and 3:30 PM on established dates. All food establishments must have a Person in Charge (PIC) during all hours of operation that is certified through the Food Manager class. Food Manager classes are taught are 9 AM on established dates. Please visit our Event Calendar to find the Food Handler or Manager class that works best for you. Appointments are not needed.
