POWER Coalition

Pike County Outreach for Wellness, Education and Resources

What We Do

The POWER Coalition is a collective group of Pike County business, educational, community and healthcare leaders created to improve the health and well-being of Pike County. The POWER Coalition was organized in 2015 to complete a community health assessment Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) which evaluated the areas of improvement in Pike County's health. The POWER Coalition is a Call-to-Action for local Pike County leaders and citizens to collaborate and partner in leading the Pike County Community to a better well-being.

Our Goals

We will be addressing three major health concerns within Pike County: Obesity, Substance Abuse and Unemployment. Our goal is to create an evidence-based intervention directed toward each of these concerns through the collaboration of our four workgroups.

How To Become Involved

The POWER Coalition is divided into four workgroups: School, Community, Healthcare and Worksite.

If you are a School Leader, POWER Coalition is an opportunity to share ideas on the effects of obesity, substance abuse, and unemployment on school-aged children and young adults and the ways the Pike County Schools are combating these issues.

If you are a Community Leader, POWER Coalition is an opportunity to gain insights on the programs offered in Pike County focused on obesity, substance abuse and unemployment that can assist the citizens of Pike County. The POWER Coalition is an outlet for your own efforts towards combating the issues of obesity, substance abuse and unemployment.

If you are a Healthcare Leader, POWER Coalition is an opportunity to learn about the programs available to your patients for healthier lifestyle practices. POWER Coalition is a platform to share the needs of your patients and assist in creating an effective health care system within Pike County.

If you are a Worksite Leader, POWER Coalition is an opportunity to increase your workforce health and improve the bottom line through programs and education offered in obesity, substance abuse and unemployment. POWER Coalition can assist employers in promoting a healthy lifestyle through partnerships with community and healthcare organizations.
